The purpose of the DARG is to allow a forum for professionals and practitioners to exchange information and good practice on local and national drug & alcohol misuse issues.
The Basingstoke and Deane DARG meets every 2 months at Popley Fields Community Centre. The main benefit of having a local DARG is so that its’ members can identify local needs in respect of drug and alcohol services and work together to address them. Feed back is regularly given by the DARG to the Hampshire Drug/Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) who commission services across the county. This feedback is essential as it provides current “on the ground” information to the DAAT to insure that it can identify gaps in service and enable resources to be targeted where they are most needed in our community. The DARG supports the local implementation of DAAT priorities and plans, in line with the National Drug Strategy.
