Phoenix Futures is a leading provider of services for people with drug and alcohol problems. We offer services within community, prison and residential settings in England and Scotland. Our service is solely aimed at non-dependent drinkers whose alcohol use has become hazardous or harmful to their health. Winchester Churches Nightshelter offers an essential lifeline to the homeless in
our City. The support made available to our homeless residents, male and female and aged
from 16 years and older, extends to providing more than just a bed and food: residents
also receive specialist support, help to find suitable longer term accommodation to
match their needs, individual counselling, employment guidance, budgeting advice and
other one-to-one care and attention whilst at the NIghtshelter.

This enables residents to develop their confidence, improve their skills, and most importantly have a real chance
to escape the homelessness cycle for good. We try and offer help and support to those
with substance misuse problems and can assist with referral into brief intervention
services and other supporting agencies. For the safety of our staff, volunteers and other
residents we do limit entry to those with low levels of alcohol.

We are working with other local agencies, and WCC as part of the Winchester Alcohol
Interventions Group to try and work towards setting up Alcohol Intervention High Level
Support Accommodation in Winchester so if anyone can support this project in any way
please do make contact with the Manager, Michele Price.
